In a recent paper published in the journal Econometrica, Andy Haughwout, Wilbert van der Klaauw, and I provide the foundations for a more complete understanding of the economic effects of land-use exploiting a national database of municipal regulations, we investigate which types of regulations are harmful and which are beneficial.
